Rock music’s favorite newcomer Laura McCormick pays tribute to one of her biggest influences with the release of her new single, a cover of the Rolling Stones hit “Wild Horses.” Showing off her soaring vocals, McCormick gives the powerful song a flare all her own. The track is available today on iTunes and all other online retailers.
"I've been listening to the Rolling Stones since I was a little girl, so naturally they have made a lasting impression on the music I create," says the Tullahoma, TN native.
"I've always felt a more personal and emotional connection to ‘Wild Horses.’ It's always been my favorite Stones song, but as I've gotten older certain lyrics now remind me of the loss of a dear friend of mine. Every time I sing this song, I'm singing to her and I think you can feel that throughout my recording."
This release comes as a welcomed follow up to Laura’s Too Wild to Tame EP and single “Just Around the Corner,” which have been garnering positive industry reviews since their release in November of last year.
“She has a throaty, smoky delivery that’s full of tension, emotion and technique… [Just Around The Corner is] a lively country rocker, full of upbeat optimism, positivity and hope. The chorus voices and handclaps at the finale lift the already-inspiring tune even higher. A winner.”
- Robert K. Oermann, Music Row Magazine
“Laura McCormick has been honing her songwriting skills and laying her sultry vocal magic down in the studio, creating powerful sophomore album, Too Wild to Tame. Six well crafted selections, including the single “Just Around the Corner,” showcase McCormick’s old soul emotions and beautiful voice.”
- Digital Rodeo
“The EP is a six song collection that highlights McCormick’s powerful, attention grabbing vocals on songs that showcase her southern rock roots blended with country.”
- The Daily Country
Whether it’s her soaring vocals, genuine songwriting style or take-no-prisoners live show, Laura has proved she has the fierce set of pipes necessary to compete in today’s rock scene. Laura spent the last year relentlessly honing her songwriting craft and gracing stages around the south after the successful release of her 2014 debut album Box Full of Trouble. Now, the ICU nurse turned full-time performer is fresh off the release of her sophomore project Too Wild to Tame and gearing up for a year of touring.
